What Does the following abdominal Ultrasound Indicate?
Hi sir my age is 18 yrs and I have gone through a ultrasound check up for abdomen, reports shows that Ovaries: Right ovary:4.0 x 1.57 x 1.78cm(vol:6.7cm3) RT ovary is enlarged and shows multiple immature follicle in periphary with central echogenic stroma... What doe s it me ? Please clarify the doubt.
Hi, Thanks for posting in HCM. I understand your concern. From the ultrasound report you have furnished, Right Ovary dimensions shows that it is enlarged as the normal dimensions should be 3.5 x 2.1 x 2.8 cm. this could be due to presence of multiple immature follicles at the periphery. The picture is indicative of polycystic ovarian disease (PCOD). This condition is a treatable condition but it results in irregular menstruation and/or ovulation, leading to difficulty in conceiving. Kindly consult Gynecologist with the report for further evaluation and management. Hope the information provided would be helpful. All the best.
